Protecting Our Green Spaces – Update on Wealden Core Strategy Campaign.
Your Langney Lib Dem team is continuing to fight Conservative controlled Wealden Council’s plans to build 220 homes behind Oak Tree Lane, Helvellyn Drive, Penrith Way and Pennine Way.
Local Councillors Troy Tester, Alan Shuttleworth and Harun Miah have spoken against the Wealden Plans at the council and have made representations to the Government Planning Inspector Michael Moore opposing this development and the way in which Wealden Council failed to have meaningful consultatation with their neighbours in Langney.
The Planning Inspector has now identified “some significant concerns” relating to the Wealden Plans. In view of the concerns expressed by ourselves, local residents and the inspector we are now asking that the Wealden Core Strategy be withdrawn and looked at again.
Cllr Harun Miah said “We are determined to prevent development on our precious green spaces around Langney and we want to thank the large number of local residents who have also made representations to oppose the Wealden Plan.”
“If these new developments proceeded then they would put more pressure upon the already stretched local services such as schools and health, transport and community services in Langney” added Cllr Troy Tester, “and Wealden District Council have made no indication that they would intend to contribute to improving these.”
